Friday July 1st was my last day of school! Hooray! The next day my niece Kaylie got baptized and then we headed up to my cabin in Island Park for the weekend! We had beautiful weather! I wish I could say I indulged on junk food, soda, hambugers, hot dogs, treats, etc. but I didn't because of my cleanse. Was it hard? No, not at all...are you kidding me?! Yes! of course it was a little hard, but my loving mom made sure there were tons of veggies I could eat so I had a lot of healthy options-which everyone else happened to eat as well. Thank goodness with other health problems of family members, we don't keep a lot of junk food around. It's a plus for all-even the kids. They were snacking on fruit instead of cookies and chips.
Here's a little update on how my cleanse is going-for those of you who care. If you don't care, why are you still reading this?? I'm only writing this so I can remember this and who knows, maybe one of you has it and I hope maybe I can help? Anyway, I kind of came to a fork in the road this week. I went a whole week and 3 days with no sugar, yeast, or fruit. It was very tough, but I suffered through it, and the few pounds I lost was so worth it already. While we were at my cabin, my mom had me read this book called "I am my Child's Advocate". It's about this lady who had Candida, (if you don't know what it is, look it up) got pregnant and passed it to her son because she had a vaginal delivery. Her son was very sick. He would sleep for 20-30 min increments at night, had horrible diaper rash, and screamed bloody murder before he had a bowl movement (sorry I know TMI) She thought it could have been her milk so she switched to soy. He got a lot better but they found out they both had Candida because she gave it to him. In the rest of the book she talks about the cleanse of foods you can eat and foods you can't eat. I was starting to get confused because a few things she listed that we ok to eat weren't ok to eat according to the internet site I was using. I had had enough and was getting so frustrated and confused about what I could eat. I finally called this lady up (she is in my parent's neighborhood) and I went to her house and got all the info I needed. I stopped my cleanse on Thursday. I needed to start all over because I had eaten something that supposedly feeds the candida (yeast) in my body. I wanted to re-start the next day but I started to get the flu-body aches, chills, etc. So I decided to get better and start on Monday. Here's the kicker-she put me on a 45 DAY cleanse. Yes, I said 45! and for 6 days of the cleanse (three days at a time) I have to drink only distilled water with lemon and pure maple syrup. I don't know how I'm going to survive, but I'm so ready to get my body clean and feeling well again. I feel like I am always sick and I know it's because of this infection in my body. It's killing all the good bacteria in my body and it feeds on sugar and carbs so it made me crave that crap all the time. I noticed though even from not eating that crap for over a week I felt so much better and I started to not crave it anymore. I have to be very careful about what I eat. She had a client who ate frozen, boneless, chicken breasts and had to start all over because it had a
maltrodextrin hormone injected in it. That's why I had to start all over because I had something that had gluten in it and I have to eat gluten-free as well. I make sure I read ALL ingredients because a lot of things say no sugar on the nutrition label but you read the ingredients and it says sugar right there, or high fructose corn syrup, glucose, etc. Anything that ends in OSE is NOT ok to eat! There are so many hidden sugar ingredients in EVERYTHING! So many things we eat every day have sugar in them and you'd never even know it. I'm sorry this is a really long post but like I said, you don't have to read this if you don't want :) I promise I won't be offended. Anyway, wish me luck as I embark on this 45 day journey to get healthy again! I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired! Jake is so sweet, he said he'd stop drinking soda for 45 days too so we both have to suffer for something haha.
(If you think you have candida, look up symptoms on the internet. I definitely didn't have all of them, but I had a good handful)
Now, on to the good stuff...

We didn't want to miss the fireworks on the 4th but I had class at 7:30 the next morning SO we decided to wake up at 5:30 and I was three hours late for class and it was well worth it!
P.S. have any of you ever done a cleanse? If so, which one? And for how long?
you are amazing. i couldn't do it. i hope you feel better after all this.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that firework (sparklers) picture you took! That seriously takes skill. When I saw the pic of you painting your nieces toes you made me want a girl. You are cute aunty!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to feel so great when you are done! Good job, I'm excited to hear how it goes.
